A winter rediscovering the world of Jimmie Rodgers, Gene Autry, The Carter Family, Hank Williams, Ernest Tubb and many others from that era can mend any lonesome heart.

This is a world of lost love and music celebration, a helluva combination. There's a world of hurt and a mountain of joy in the delivery of a single line (listen to Floyd Tillman sing "I love you so much it hurts me" or George Jones cry "a honkey tonk song"). It's about a girl that just caught the last train out of here. It's about the spirit and the flesh and the calling of the lost highway and a woman that can't be pleased and can't be left. There's wailing fiddles and a tickling of keyboards that draws up knee slappin energy that lives in the hills of back country places not found on any map.

These songs came from catching a fleeting glimpse into those places.

Then she gone my señorita, adios mi corazon

Well she gone my señorita, yeah she gone and done me wrong

Adios mi señorita, adios mi corazon

Well she left me all a lonely, yeah she left me feeling blue

now I don't want to love another but what else can I do?

Yeah she gone my señorita, said so long and then and she gone

Adios mi señorita, adios mi corazon

Well she left me feelin' lonesome, yeah she left me feeling bad

now I don't want another lover, I want the love I had

Yeah she gone my señorita, I don't know where but I know she gone

Adios mi señorita, adios mi corazon

What About Tomorrow (Rowland)

You haven't called for days, I'm sittin' here at home

starin' at the walls, drinkin' beer by the telephone

You said that you would call, you said we'd talk awhile

You told me not to worry babe, I could still make you smile

Now I just want to know, what about tomorrow

Will it bring your love to me or will it bring me sorrow

Late night TV shows, a beer at 7am

Drunk by lunchtime big boss man on my back again

Go to the Texas Star, put away a few

Listen to sad songs all night long, go home and think about you

Now I just want to know, what about tomorrow

Will it bring me happiness or will it bring me sorrow

Dinner for one, aluminum foil pan

Stick it in the oven and burn it up, throw it in the garbage can

Go back to the store, buy some more brew

Go back home sit by the phone and pour a toast to you

Now I just want to know, what about tomorrow

Will it bring you back to me or will it bring me sorrow

Bonita Gone Home (Rowland)

Now oft the time she left me and oft the time she gone

but it was only for a night or two

and oft the time she'd tell me just before she'd go

that this was the time that we were through

Bonita gone home, she said goodnight Rick, Bonita gone home

Bonita gone home, she said goodnight Rick, Bonita gone home

Now I ain't worth a nickel and I ain't' worth a dime

but I always thought she'd come back home to me

cause oft the time she'd tell me just before she'd go

that I was her sweet misery

Bonita gone home, she said goodnight Rick, Bonita gone home

Bonita gone home, she said goodnight Rick, Bonita gone home

So take away my bourbon, take away my wine

take away the nights of music too

take away the sunshine bring on the lonesome me

Bonita done wrote a different tune

Bonita gone home, she said goodbye Rick, Bonita gone home

Bonita gone home, she said goodbye Rick, Bonita gone home

Every Dream I Dream (Rowland)

You tell me that you're going away, well I don't know what to say

'cause every day I dream, I dream of you

We've been together for so long, but now you say the good times are gone

Still every time I dream, I dream of you

and I'll love you my whole life through, thought you would love me too

Now I don't know what to do, I always thought I'd be with you

and tonight I'd like to hold you tight, just to make sure that you're alright

'cause every night I dream, I dream of you

I'd like to run away and hide, but you're always there inside

'cause everywhere I dream, I dream of you

I'd like to dream I could forget, I'd like to dream that we'd never met

but every way I dream, I dream of you

and you know I'll always be true but now you want somebody new

and it hurts me through and through, it breaks my heart in two

and I hear you say it's over now, still I'd like to think, somehow,

that every dream I'll dream I'll dream with you

John Killinger (Rowland)

Born like thunder in a broken down bed in the winter of '48

He learned to tell a King from an Ace long before it was too late

Hit the road when a kid of 12, lost an eye at the age of 19

to a mountain of a man in a barroom brawl and they say he left a little more mean

Beware John Killinger, he's bringing his love to town

Beware Johnny Killinger, he's bringing his love around

They say he traveled throughout the west, he wasn't known to work very much

and the women all knew him everywhere and they trembled at the thought of his touch

and all the men in the tank town bars, they didn't take a kindly to him

but hardly a one ever said a word, they just stared through the lights down dim

Beware John Killinger, he's bringing his love to town

Beware Johnny Killinger, he's bringing his love around

He wasn't known to have a good friend except for Montana Slim

and they'd meet in a town way up that way when the northwest winds blew in

and they'd drink for a month without a break, people feared they were deranged

and they'd leave as quickly as they could, said goodbye til the weather did change

Beware John Killinger, he's bringing his love to town

Beware Johnny Killinger, he's bringing his love around

Well he sings to the stars and howls at the moon and prays for those in his way

He lives when he can and he'll die when he must and leaves 'cause he's better off that way

Ain't got no wife, ain't got no kids, ain't got no crazy little home

ain't got no blood, ain't got no reason ever not want to be alone

Beware John Killinger, he's bringing his love to town

Beware Johnny Killinger, he's bringing his love around

I Can't Believe (Rowland)

Well I like to go out and run around and spend all night out on the town,

me and my buds we just get up and go

And have some honky tonkin fun and then go back home to my hun

now I can't believe she wants to let me know

Well I know my edges ain't real smooth and I drink until I cannot move

but it ain't like I'm something she don't know

We gone and laid down these here roots so why she want her walking boots

I can't believe she wants to let me go

Now this ol' hearts a breakin' cause she ain't here with me

I remember way back in the day when she liked my company

I sit all day and watch TV, I'm still the same ol' same ol' me

I can't believe she wants to let me go

Now this ol' hearts a breakin' cause she ain't by my side

I remember way back in the day when she was satisfied

I sit all day and drink my beer, I'm the same ol' same ol' sittin' here

I can't believe she wants to let me go

Tonight Put A Ribbon In Your Hair (Rowland)

I can tell that you're changin', you're so far away it seems

and soon you'll be rearrangin' every one of my dreams

Yes I know you'll be leavin', off to find a better day

but tonight let's keep believin' that we can dance the night away

So tonight put a ribbon in your hair, tonight take the stockings from your drawer

Tonight wear your very finest dress, and be my little lady with your pearls and curls once more

There'll be time enough for grievin', time enough for the pain

but tonight's for make believin' you'd like to hold me close again

Yes tonight we'll be forgettin', we'll do the crawl and the two step too

Yes, we'll do that fancy steppin', the way you always liked to do

So tonight put a ribbon in your hair, tonight take the stockings from your drawer

Tonight wear your very finest dress, and be my little lady with your pearls and curls once more

Hey Lordy Mama (Rowland)

Hey lordy mama, walkin' in the mornin' rain, hey lordy mama, walkin' in the mornin' rain

come on girl now, help me ease my pain

Hey lordy mama, where you been so long. I said hey lordy mama, where you been so long

come on girl, help me sing my song

Hey lordy mama, walkin' down the rocky road, hey lordy mama walkin' down the rocky road

come on girl, help me ease my load

I had a gal, she's so good, but I didn't treat her like I should, she loved her sugar daddy she loved her sugar daddy it's true

and I'd be her sugar daddy but she left me feelin' blue

yeah that gal, she's so kind, but I didn't keep her on my mind, she loved her sugar daddy she loved her sugar daddy it's true

and I'd be her sugar daddy but she left me feelin' blue

Hey lordy mama walkin' in the mornin' rain, I said hey lordy mama walkin' in the pourin' rain

come on girl, now, help me ease my pain

True Love's So Hard To Lose (Rowland)

Funny how love fades away, fadin' from bright to gray

One day you're oh so fine, next day she's changed her mind

And now another's gonna hold her tight and you know it don't feel right

True love's so hard to lose, you get those lonesome blues

Heartache from dusk til dawn since my true love's been good

One day you're oh so good, next day misunderstood

And now another's gonna hold her tight and you know it don't feel right

True love's so hard to lose, you get those lonesome blues

Longing for yesterday when love was here to stay

when she would hold your hand, never alone again

And now another's gonna hold her tight and you know it don't feel right

True love's so hard to lose, you get those lonesome blues

Cheap Hotels (Rowland)

We once thought we were forever that we would always be together

We once thought every song was just for us

We once thought the tender night was for to hold each other tight

to sleep in our love our warmth and trust

but now it's cheap hotels and honky tonk girls

ever since you've been away

yes it's cheap hotels and second hand thrills

and that's what my life is today

We once thought we'd never part, we'd always have each others heart

we would swing in swings and dance in the sun

We once thought the stars were diamonds and that church bells were always chimin'

and that our love would always be the only one

but now it's cheap hotels and honky tonk girls

ever since you've been away

yes it's cheap hotels and second hand thrills

and that's what my life is today

Well, now I eat in greasy spoons and I drink from dusk til noon

and I spend my time a wonderin' where you are

Oh that man that's a holdin' you, is his love as good or as true?

Oh if you ever need me you know I won't be far

but now it's cheap hotels and honky tonk girls

ever since you've been away

yes it's cheap hotels and second hand thrills

and that's what my life is today

I Don't Like It (Rowland/Kanton)

I don't like it, you're breakin' my heart and I don't like bein' torn apart

I don't like it, no no no, I think that you'd better go

I don't like it, you're bringing me down, and I don't like it when you're around

I don't like it, no no no, I think that you'd better go

I don't like it, you're mean and you're cruel, and I don't like being played a fool

and I don't like anything you do, well I don't even really like you

well, I don't like it, you're making me sad, and I don't like how you look so glad

I don't like it, no no no, I think that you'd better go

and I don't like it, feeling this blue, and I don't like this lovin' you

and I don't like anything you do well I don't even really like you

I don't like how I want you to stay, and how you're gonna leave anyway

I don't like it, no no no, I think that you'd better go

That Side's Hers (Rowland)

Well I was born a ramblin' man, yeah I was born for distant lands

never meant to settle down, yeah I was born to move around

Then she came to me, yeah she was all I could see

I held her close every night, I heard that train roll out of sight

Well I dreamed of things to be, a life just her and me

Hand in hand and happy times and leave my ramblin' days behind

Well I lost my wonderin' ways, yeah I forgot my ramblin' days

and for so long it was so fine, now that side's hers and this side's mine

Well I feel so doggone ill when that train rolls over the hill

headin' out to open sky I'd like to see before I die

but I just sit, my bags unpacked, I hear that train rollin' down the track

I hear that lonesome whistle whine, as that side's hers and this side's mine

Snow (Rowland)

Snow snow soft snow, your cover is everywhere

there's snow on the mountains and snow in the valleys and snow on the trees so bare

Drop lord I will drop, everything for a song

I got a gal she'll be with me all the winter long

Hey, hey oh hey, the stars are shinin' bright, there's a chorus

singing merry-do under the winter moonlight

Fire in the fire place, it warms me to the bone

I'll sit right here with her by my side and no more I'll ever roam

I'll sit right here with her by my side and no more I'll ever roam
